Many Scots seem to think the Welsh were happy to fight with the English against Wallace, but this was far from the case. Nothing was ever so straightforwardin those days; for example, 9000 South Welshmen were in England's army against Llywelyn. People act like they joined because they were against Llywelyn; it wasn't like that back then, they were Welshmen from already conquered lands; they had an obligation under law to now fight for their new lords and masters, yes some will also have been there for coin .
