Anti glyndwr lies

There are a number of people who seem to hate so-called ''nationalists' so much they can't handle the idea of Welsh people having any kind of national heroes or historical achievements, so they tell blatant lies to deny these things; they even claim there were no Welsh people before Wales was annexed in the 16th century.

They have nothing to back them up, all the sources of the time prove them to be completely wrong on everything, nothing they say is true in any way whatsoever, here are the favrotes regarding Owain Glyndwr, but another one is the 8000 who fought for England against Llyweyyn, they act like the south Welsh army had a choice and fought Llywelyn because they didnt like him or seen him as a foreigner, but this is the middle ages, South Wales was mostly in English hands, ruled by marcher lords, people in these lord ships were required to fight when called upon, , its the sam with the Welsh army that fought wallace in Scotland, many sources say they didnt want to be there and were rioting all the time, even threatening to fight for the Scots.

Everything these people say can be proven wrong.

As more people are talking of an Owain Glyndwr movie, the same anti-Welsh people are coming out of the woodwork with their usual lies, so I thought I would address some of these LIES.

LIE 1, 

He fought for the English; his rebellion was about him and not a national revolt.

THE TRUTH

Yes he fought for the English, but that's how things were back then, we have sources telling us of Scottish kings fighting against the Welsh and French, people think those in the Middle Ages had some sort of choice to fight in these wars, Owain had no choice, he was required to fight.

It's the same with the south Welsh who fight Llywelyn. People act like they opposed him so much that they all volunteered to fight against him. The facts are that the areas in south Wales were under English control, so again, these people were required to fight under these English lords

LIE 2

It was a North Wales rebellion

THE TRUTH

After Gwynedd, it was Gwent and Morganwg where most of his army come from, by the time  Glyndŵrs  wars started the Welsh were treated terribly and had many laws restricting anything they do , as we will see with the next point, they were excluded from towns and castles built on land that was once owned by the Welsh

LIE 3

He killed as many Welsh as English and attacked Welsh settlements

THE TRUTH

Since 1067 the Normans took lands from the native Welsh and installed Normans, English and Flemings in these areas but this was turbocharged by Edward Longshanks who along with laws restricting everything the Welsh people could do , he embarked on a policy of English colonization and settlement of Wales, creating new towns like Flint, Aberystwyth and Rhuddlan.  Outside the towns, Welsh peasants were evicted from key areas and their land resettled by English peasants: for example, in the Lordship of Denbigh 10,000 acres were occupied by English settlers by 1334, this happened in every corner of Wales, the Welsh kicked off their lands, castles and towns built, English people replacing them,  new laws against these Welsh people which also excluded them from these towns, although eventually they were allowed into trade etc

LIE 4

He was only interested in himself and didn't care about Wales,

THE TRUTH 

This is the easiest to prove wrong.

Glyndwr had everything, a life of comfort and wealth, big houses, productive lands and tenants, but he sacrificed it all for what he thought was the right cause, in his letters to France, Scotland and Ireland he talks of his dream of an independent Wales, with universities in the south and north, an independent church, In the letters you can feel the emotion, they are not words of the man these anti-Welsh people talk about, they are words from a man who has had enough of his nation, his people being treated like slaves in their own country.

What care we for these bare food barbarians'' were the words aimed at him when he tried to take his case to parliament; those few words tell you everything you need to know. 

Wales it seems isn't allowed national heroes in the minds of some people, it seems anything remotely positive is dismissed as Nationalist, don't take anything they say seriously, if you look deeper into these people you will find they are also anti-Welsh language, anti-Devolution, anti anything Welsh, they do this for a number of reasons but i think the main reason is an obsession with proving to so-called Welsh nationalists that Wales is shit, everything about Wales is shit, you have no history, no achievements, your small and irrelevant, there are people with other motives and hidden agendas but i will talk about them another time.
