 1114 and another invasion of Wales , this time the king of Scotland was involved. 


By 1114 Norman lords in Wales were under attack, and in Mid-Wales in , Owain ap Cadwgan had blinded one of the political hostages he had been holding. In North Wales Gruffudd ap Cynan was threatening the power of the Earl of Chester. 


Henry the 1st sent three armies into Wales. 

Gilbert FitzRichard would lead a force from the south. 


Alexander, the King of Scotland would press on from the north  King Henry invaded from Mid-Wales

Timeline of Viking Raids on the Welsh

The Viking attacks on the native Welsh is often overlooked for the better-recorded attacks and battles with the Saxons of England. The Viking raids on Saxon England is the subject of many documentaries and books. (probably 100s) Most of these don't even mention the natives of the islands, especially the Welsh. I decided to make a timeline but then I found one already done on my hard drive. I don't know where I got this but I do know  I didn't make it,  It is far more detailed than anything I could have done. so please don't credit me for it. Playing a game there and this reminded me of that time when..........

 ..........................the Welsh give the English a good hiding during the war of 1282, Luke de Tany, the nobles Roger de Clifford, Phillip and William Burnell (brothers of the chancellor Robert Burnell), sixteen English knights (and their esquires) and over 400 of Tany's men perished. The Welsh suffered few casualties, (Battle of the bridge of boats ). This victory, and the Battle of Llandeilo Fawr in which another English army was destroyed in South Wales, temporarily delayed Edward’s conquest . 2 significant battles with at least 3000 English souls perished and nobody in England has heard about them, wonder why ? The Welsh had a number of great victories against the Normans and English, when they decided to attack from the island, 🙂 One time they killed Henry firsts, two illegitimate sons he had with Nest . The English don't talk of this, either, do they ? 🙂
